Blueberry picking is at its peak now and for the next couple of weeks. Unlike raspberries, there are no thorns so it is a great activity to show kids where food comes from. Plus you can make sweet treats, such as muffins and pies, to show your kids that now all food comes from the market.

I have a really easy pie dough recipe that doesn't require rolling, so kids can help out.

Easy Pie Dough

6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespooons sugar
2 ounces cream cheese
1 1 /4 cup flour
Dash of salt

Butter, shortening and cream cheese should be lightly softened. About an hour out of the fridge.
Grease a pie plate.
Add all ingredients to a food processor until combined (will not be a ball, but will be like small gravel or sand). Remove from food processor, reserving about 1 /4 cup.
Press dough into pie plate, leaving room at the edge to create an edge with reserved dough.
Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. In the meantime heat oven to 350 degrees. Pierce dough with fork. Bake in oven for about 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
In the meantime, roll out remaining dough into ropes to create edging. Add filling, put edging on, crimp, and cook according to directions for pie.
