Sending sick kids or adults to school or work is a bad idea. But how do you know what sick is?

As I write this, I'm waiting for the phone call from school. Was the stomach ache real or just a plea to spend some time at home? Last time we didn't believe her, she barely made it in the door before throwing up all over the floor.

And then crying that she had made a mess.

My brother once cautioned me that kids generally can't tell the difference between hunger and upset stomachs.

So right now I'm trusting the Rice Krispies will stay down ...

Hope everything turned out OK. I had an emergency call from the preschool last week. My youngest had thrown up...I needed to pick him up ASAP. As I put him in the car, he said. Mom, I'm hungry. Can we go to McDonalds? Needless to say he made a quick recovery. I think he just had too much to drink and played too hard.

I really think it is going around! I had the stomach flu and my daughter began to repeat my aches and complaints right before getting dressed for preschool (she wanted to stay home that day). Of course I assumed she was playing a part...until she was throwing up everywhere. The poor thing is now going on day 6 of not feeling well...
